Col. T.S. Mundy, Commanding Officer, cut the anniversary cake giving the 1st piece to GySgt (ret'd) Rose Noel, our guest speaker, 2nd bite to Gene Blick, age 84, our oldest veteran & the 3rd bite went to Pvt Ashley M. Maka, the youngest Marine present at 18-years old. The 2nd celebration was held at Tony's Seafood Restaurant in Jacksonville with 35 in attendance. We were honored to have Col. Daniel Lecce, Commanding Officer of Camp Lejeune , to read the Commandant's Message, and our Area Director, Linda Wolford, to join us. President Linda Lacy of NC-1 tells the history of Eugenia Lejeune, daughter of Gen. John A. Lejeune, who served during WWII as a Major at Quantico, VA. The Tarheel Chapter celebrated their 67th Anniversary with Infantry-East at Camp Geiger. |
