 69TH ANNIVERSARY OF Women in the Marine Corps was celebrated on 11 February at the Golden Corral by the Tarheel Chapter.  We were honored to have the Commanding Officer of Camp Lejeune, Col. Daniel Lecce hand the first piece of cake to Gene Blick, the oldest Marine, and then it was passed to the youngest Marine, Mindy Decker. Gayle Horn, secretary of NC-1 assists in the ceremony.

 The Women Marines Association, NC-1, Tarheel Chapter was honored by the Jacksonville Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars,  #9133 on 13 February 2012 at the Post Home.  We participated in a cake cutting ceremony and dinner honoring women in the Marine Corps.  

NC-1 celebrates the 69th Anniversary of Women in the Marine Corps at the School of infantry-East, Camp Geiger on 15 February 2012.  The Tarheel Chapter provided Linda's historical display for everyone to enjoy.  The 2nd Marine Division band played the "March of the Women Marines", "National Anthem", and other traditional music during the ceremony.  GySgt Jeannine Cressman narrated the sequence of events.  The Commanding Officer, Col. B. J. Fitzpatrick, passed the first piece of cake to the guest of honor--BGen Lori Reynolds, CO of Eastern Recuriting Region, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. Then, it was given to Gene Blick, the oldest Marine, and next to the youngest Marine  of six months.

BGen Lori Reynolds, Commanding General of Eastern Recruiting Region and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC was the guest speaker. 

Feb. 13,2009 dedication of road marker outside of gate at Camp Lejeune honoring WMRs.  NC-1 set up a historical display at the SNCO Club for the presentation with Col. Adele Hodges as guest speaker. 

Founder of NC-1 and WWII veteran Lil Ragan displays picture of Eugenia Lejeune at Camp Johnson honoring "Women's History Month" during March, 2009. 

President Linda Lacy of NC-1 tells the history of Eugenia Lejeune, daughter of Gen. John A. Lejeune, who served during WWII as a Major at Quantico, VA.  The Tarheel Chapter celebrated their 67th Anniversary with infantry-East at Camp Geiger.
